Perillo
Taurasi is for many Italophiles a bit of a rough diamond of Southern Italy. The DOCG appellation is located in the province of Avellino, a good hour's drive from Dries Mertens' home base. Only one grape rules here, Aglianico. In Taurasi, only red wine may be produced and this as a mono-varietal of the ancient Aglianico grape. This rustic Southern Italian grape can only be tamed in two ways; wood aging and time. A lot of time. Only then can you succeed in producing polished diamonds from this stubborn grape from this volcanic wine region. We are therefore very proud to be able to import Perillo exclusively for Belgium! This small family estate produces a Taurasi and a Taurasi Riserva of the highest quality. It is up to you to find out why Taurasi is called the Barolo of the South, and at Perillo you are in good hands, believe us. Perillo her Taurasi was therefore the 'Vino Rosso dell'Anno 2021' for Daniele Cernilli.
