Nowhere in Australia are the vineyards older, the history richer and the traditions more firmly established than in the Barossa Valley. And it is here that the Glaetzer family has been as deeply rooted as the old vines themselves for 130 years. While his father worked more rustic and in wood, Ben Glaetzer focuses much more on purity of fruit and expression of terroir in terms of wine style. Riper fruit aromas are certainly welcome, but they must always feel fresh and lively, and he succeeds in this very well. He is therefore considered one of the most prominent members of the modern school in the valley. James Halliday, Australia's most famous wine expert, has given the winery five stars for three years in a row. In addition to his top wines from the Barossa, Ben Glaetzer has also launched a more volume-oriented wine, the Heartland series, originating from the Langhorne Creek and Limestone Coast further south. These wines also have a surprising amount of character, a mouth full of fruit and complexity, and this for a very interesting price.
