Shaun, the son of our own manager Philip Crombé, was brought up with wine growing. From the age of fourteen, he went on internships with various wine growers in France. Initially, Shaun wanted to improve his French, but in the meantime he also learned the tricks of the trade and especially his passion. He had the time of his life there. At the age of 20, Shaun - in a somewhat more rebellious period - moved to Stellenbosch, the wine city par excellence of South Africa. He worked there for four years with various wine growers. Then the idea grew to make his own wine. With little money in his pocket, he had to be creative: barter. He would work for free in exchange for the chance to work with part of the grapes and installations. And so it happened. With blood, sweat, a few tears and little sleep, results were quickly achieved. "In the sometimes rough South African wine sector, you have to work your way up a bit before you can claim your place there," Shaun always says.
