About the producer

Pounamu

Pounamu is one of three wines that New Zealand oenologist Fleur McCree, who has her own vineyards in the Marlborough wine district, has been making her mark with for several years now. Marlborough is located in the northeast of the South Island, west of the city of Wellington. The fact that it is an area with ideal conditions for wine growing is evident from the success of the white sauvignon blanc wines from Marlborough in particular. Fleur McCree and her partner Mark Duns started in 2002, when they found an old sheep farm with 40 hectares of land in the Waihopai Valley that turned out to be extremely suitable for wine growing. Since then, Fleur McCree – with sustainability high on the agenda and the help of the famous oenologist Eveline Fraser – has been working very convincingly on a qualitative and innovative path.
