Alan Emil Manley is an American who became as Piedmontese as they come. His love for wine is crystal clear. Besides collecting wine avidly, Alan worked in and with the wine(world) for 15 years before becoming a winemaker. Alan moved permanently to Italy after having worked there for 6 to 12 weeks a year with legendary names such as Maria Teresa Mascarello and the late Luciano Sandrone. Since 2011 he has been toying with the idea of starting his own wine project with purchased vineyards and grapes. In 2019 his first Barolo (2015) finally came on the market, which was an immediate hit with the renowned guides. His plots are located in Serralunga d'Alba, Monforte d'Alba and Barolo. Alan had been 'that American with the earring' for many years & the assistant winemaker of Maria Teresa who also provided tastings at the Bartolo Mascarello home. But today Alan has outgrown that role as the owner of one of the most up and coming wineries in Barolo!
