About the producer
Divai
This wine comes from the Alentejo region, one of the largest wine-growing areas in Portugal, with the Spanish border to the east and the Algarve province to the south. The region is largely flat, with picturesque rolling hills and wide plains covered with vineyards, olive groves and cork trees. The name Divai literally means 'wine' in Swahili and symbolises the divine within the relationship between man and nature. The winemaker is Luís Darte, twice (1997 and 2007) named 'Winemaker of the Year' by the 'Portuguese Wine Magazine', and nominated for 'Best Winemaker in the World' at the Prowein Awards 2010. He himself comes from the Douro region and applies a balanced combination of modern and ancient winemaking techniques.
