About the producer
Álvar de Dios
Álvar is a young thirty-something who took over the old vineyards, situated a few meters from the DO Toro, from his grandfather in 2014. Since then, Álvar has made it his mission to produce fantastic wines with respect for nature and the land. And the result is worth seeing, I think! Together with his best friends Daniel & Fernando, the owners of Comando G, Álvar is now considered one of the most emerging talents on the Spanish wine scene. His young, fresh and open vision and the luck that he can work with old pre-phylloxera vines, make the project completely unique in the rather static Toro. The vineyards, including on the quaternary sand deposits of El Pego and in Arribes del Duero, are planted in terraces and on very poor subsoils. This makes every cuvée of Álvar a pure experience in itself. Pure, as wine should be.
