  • Did you know?

Unfortunately, over the decades, nurseries have in good faith sent other vines to those who wanted to plant Trebbiano Abruzzese. As a result, the majority of Trebbiano Abruzzese vineyards in the region are actually a mix of different varieties, resulting in much inferior wines and giving Trebbiano d'Abruzzo its bad reputation.

About the producer

Tiberio

The story of Tiberio sounds more like a New World story than an Old World one. At 350 meters above sea level and 37 km inland from the coastal town of Pescara, Riccardo Tiberio found a very old parcel of Abruzzo Trebbiano vines, which despite the name of the variety, are a rarity in Abruzzo. This is because the high quality of the Abruzzo Trebbiano grape (which has nothing in common with Trebbiano Toscano) had always been confused with other similar, yet completely different varieties in the region. Riccardo was so impressed and excited by his discovery of these approximately 60 year old vines that he decided to change both his own destiny and that of his family. As the export manager for a well-known winery in the region, Riccardo knew well the potential of real high quality Abruzzo grapes and what the modern world expects in wines.
