About the producer
Domaine Sophie Martin
Domaine Sophie Martin is the alter ego of Domaine De La Denante. In 1975, Robert Martin started this domain with barely 2 ha. His son Damien first studied in Beaune, then traveled to New Zealand for 2 months to learn the tricks of the trade and then, from 2011, worked full time with his father in the vineyards. Robert retired in 2015. But don't worry, his son is doing fantastic. In 2020, he was awarded the “Trophé jeunes talentes”. Today, the estate covers 21 hectares, spread across the communes of Davayé, Prissé, Fuissé, Chevagny-les-Chevrieres and Verzé. The main vineyards are located under the rock of Solutré. His wife Sophie (do you get the link?) now works with him, along with two employees and an apprentice. His wines have recently been certified HVE (Haute Valeur Environnementale). “It just gave a name to something we’ve been doing for 20 years,” he says.
