About the producer

Duke of Salaparuta

The iconic Sicilian estate Duca di Salaparuta, named after Guiseppe Alliata, the Count of Salaparuta, was founded in 1824. However, the estate was neglected until it was revived by new owners. And how! Duca di Salaparuta owns no less than 183 hectares of vineyards, all divided over three estates: Risignolo, Suor Marchesa and Vajasindi, located respectively in Trapani, southern Sicily and on Etna. What makes Duca di Salaparuta so iconic is not only the very stable quality across the entire portfolio, combined with a competitive price point, but also their Duca Enrico. Duca Enrico is a name that stands like a house and was in 1984 the very first 100% monocèpage bottled Nero d'Avola, produced under the direction of none other than the oenological legend Giacomo Tachis (yes, the one from that other iconic Italian wine, Sassicaia…). The wine won one prestigious (inter)national award after the other and confirms its prestigious status to this day.
