About the producer
Château Badette
Although the domain is more than 200 years old, it only really came into the spotlight when the West Flemish entrepreneur Marc-André Vandebogaerde bought everything in 2008 and decided to completely change course. Quality was now paramount and substantial investments were made in new equipment and the replanting of the bad parts of the vineyard. This modernization was finally completed in 2016. The vineyard is 8 ha in size, and planted with 75% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot. The oldest parts of the vineyard are more than 100 years old. The soil consists of clay and limestone, and is located near well-known Grand Cru Classés such as Château Balestard La Tonelle and Château Haut Sarpe. Unfortunately, Marc-André passed away on May 9, 2020. His son Arnaud Vandenbogaerde is now continuing this in a fantastic way.
