Ochota Barrels
There is so much to tell about Taras Ochota… A legend. A pioneer. A leading winemaker of our generation. A surfing punk rocker with a talent for wine. A bosom friend of that other legend, Eben Sadie. With a degree in both business and oenology, Ochota and his wife Amber gained experience in California, Sweden and Italy before returning to South Australia and starting their own estate in 2008. Like his grandparents before him, he produced wines with minimal intervention and searched for ‘energy’ in a wine. He inspired the next generation of winemakers. His wines always sell out the day after release and gain in popularity every year. And as is so often the case, an artist is even more celebrated after his death in 2020 than before. Today, Amber continues her husband’s heavy legacy with great success, exactly as Taras would have wanted.
