About the producer
The Morning Sun
This South African wine estate was initially established as an agricultural business. The grounds are so favourably situated that they are the first in Stellenbosch to welcome the morning sun. Hence the name De Morgenzon. Their total of 55 hectares of vineyards lies between 200 and 400 m above sea level. Thanks to the proximity of the ocean, there is a relatively cool climate, which allows the grapes to retain sufficient freshness and fruit aromas. The vineyards are worked with respect for nature. Many pests and diseases are combated with natural means. The clever planting of certain flowers and plants between the vineyards is an important part of this. Baroque music is played in both the vineyards and in the wine cellar. According to the Appelbaum family, the owners of De Morgenzon, this greatly benefits the quality of the grapes.
