Vintage info | After a mild and dry winter, a cool, wet spring made for a relatively slow growing season. However, flowering and fruiting went well, so that a phenomenal harvest in quality and quantity was expected. Temperatures rose in the first week of May, and this heat continued throughout the summer. It was sometimes scorching, but there were no problems with drought stress thanks to the abundant water reserves after the spring rains. September brought the desired day/night temperature differences, and excellent phenolic ripeness was achieved with good skin/pulp ratios. The mild conditions continued well into the harvest, which ended in mid-October with the last Sangiovese picking. |
