About the producer
Johannes Zillinger
The Zillinger wine estate is an Austrian legend when it comes to biodynamic winemaking. Since the 1980s, father Hans Zillinger has been converting to organic farming, as one of the pioneers in Austria. As sons like to do, since 2013 son Johannes has gone one step further by working biodynamically. He is convinced that this approach gives the grapes more vitality, resulting in more powerful aromas. Organic farming is certainly not a trend for them, it is a lifestyle. Healthy soil is the key to remarkable and exciting wines. Johannes has divided his wines into 3 quality levels: 'Velue' - accessible natural wines, 'Reflexion' - wines from a single vineyard, with optimal reflection of terroir and vintage, and 'Numen' - pure natural wines, with as little human influence as possible.
