About the producer
Philippe Gonet
The Gonet vineyards, situated in the prestigious Grand Cru Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, have been managed by the same family for over 200 years. However, when daddy Gonet unexpectedly passed away prematurely, brother Pierre and sister Chantal were confronted with a difficult question at a very young age; continue with the family estate? If so, continue to build on the traditions and style of their ancestors? Pierre and Chantal were in balance about this for several years until, after tasting some of their dad's old Champagnes, they both decided at the age of 22 and 23 to follow in their dad's footsteps and continue his work, exactly the way he would have wanted it. Brother and sister are polar opposites, which naturally causes conflict, but they complement each other perfectly. The aim? To honour the daddy with beautiful champagnes from Mesnil-sur-Oger. And they succeed in doing so, with what seems to be an eloquent ease.
