About the producer

The Ragnaie

I, Gianluca, could tell you a great deal. I could tell you how long we lobbied to be allowed to represent Riccardo's wines after we heard that the estate was available on the Belgian market. I could tell you how big this estate already is (in quality, that is). I could tell you how much bigger it will become. I could tell you how Riccardo is a visionary, with his vineyards planted in albarello (!) in Montalcino at 600+ m altitude (!!). I could tell you how literally every international wine critic in the wine world raves about Le Ragnaie, from Walter Speller to Monica Larner, from Jancis Robinson to Antonio Galloni. I could tell you how fantastic Riccardo's Brunellos are in a vintage as difficult as 2017 for many. I could also tell you how fantastic his entire portfolio is, ranging from the entry-level Troncone (a mini- Rosso di Montalcino) via his Viña Tondonia-like Rosato to his singoli vigneti like Passo del Lume Spento. But I'm not going to do any of that. No. I'm just going to kindly ask you to taste the wines of Le Ragnaie now that we, Crombé, can still get them relatively 'easily' and they are not yet stratospherically expensive. Self-praise stinks, I know, I'm the first to say so, but you'll thank me later. Vedrai.
