Colle del Corsicano Licosa 2020 75cl

Even though 2018 was only Alferio Romito's first vintage, the good young man vinifies and works as if it were already his 20th vintage. And despite the fact that we are only on his third vintage, Alferio is already getting the necessary attention from the great wine critics on this planet. The 2.2 ha (small?) vineyard is located in a nature park within the province of Salerno, on a cliff, next to the Mediterranean Sea. Sounds idyllic, and it is! Two wines are produced from it; one white wine, a very aromatic, Mediterranean and above all salty version of 100% Fiano (one of Italy's very best native grapes in white by the way!); and one powerful, full-bodied red wine, a blend of Primitivo and Aglianico. Primitivo, you may rightly ask? Yes, indeed, in this corner of Campania Primitivo does have a background and shows a pronounced freshness and finesse, as you can only find in the DOC Gioia del Colle. A brand new project that we are following with a critical eye!
