Azienda Agricola 499 - 2020 75cl

499 is the brainchild of Mario Andrion (winemaker at Castello di Verduno, Verduno) & Gabriele Saffirio (winemaker at Brovia, La Morra) - the base is therefore qualitatively more than good here. This personal project has a pioneering mission; bottling singoli vigneti wines from the indigenous grapes Freisa (closely related to Nebbiolo) and Moscato Bianco. For this, the gentlemen have found the perfect place in Camo (at, yes, 499m altitude!). The village of Camo, 20km east of Alba, is located on one of the highest hills in the Langhe with a relatively cool climate, lots of aeration, and gigantic limestone and chalky soils (an absolute rarity in Piemonte!). Freisa and Moscato Bianco with perfect phenolic and aromatic ripeness with a natural acidity to die for, are a normality here.
