Colline della Stella was born in the late 90s in Gussago, one of the cooler and higher situated 'sottozone' in the far east of Franciacorta, where there is a true 'hub' of young, emerging talent. Andrea Arici started at the age of barely twenty with a kind of monk's project to rehabilitate old, forgotten and overgrown by nature terrace vineyards. These plots, on steep slopes, rich in limestone and chalk in contrast to the usually moraine and alluvial soils that are typical of Franciacorta, form the absolute basis for Andrea's top wines. Andrea then applies a hands-off winemaking where balance is central, makes the liqueur de tirage based on grape juice from his own vineyards and bottles each wine without any form of liqueur de dosage because his wines bring a perfect ripeness, precision, minerality and balance in the glass, a characteristic that manifests itself even better with age. To summarise; Andrea Arici's Colline della Stella is one of Italy's big names when it comes to bubbles (it's not for nothing that you see his Franciacortas in every ** and *** restaurant in Italy..) and is the showpiece par excellence of Crombé's Franciacorta.
