About the producer

Valentin Leflaive

This story began in 2007 in Oger, an illustrious Grand Cru municipality in the Côte des Blancs in Champagne. Under the leadership of Christophe Pitois, one of the most gifted winemakers from the Côte des Blancs, a story began with the aim of creating one of the most ultimate terroir/Lieux-Dits expressions from Champagne. Crystal-pure and terroir-reflecting “Vins Clairs” are produced from 27 (!) different Lieux-Dits. These are vinified according to their harvest characteristics, in wooden barrels of various sizes or in stainless steel. The clarification of the wine is done in a 100% natural way; gravity and the transfer of barrels, that's all there is to it. Old Burgundy barrels between 228l and 500l and even foudres are not shunned. They use a clear pyramid in the construction of their cuvées. At the basis of all that beauty, the Champagnes have a small percentage of vins de reserve, which are kept in a Solera system (this is openly communicated on the label). Then the Premier Cru and Grand Cru Champagnes are from a single municipality or vineyard. With our right hand on our heart; we are witnessing the birth of a small Champagne house with a very big story.
